How we used LEGOs to pre-vis Spilled Milk
Before Spilled Milk premiered at TIFF, won the Audience Award at the Pan African Film Festival, and was selected as an HBO Short Film Award nominee, the whole thing lived on my office desk in colorful plastic bricks. In this video I break down how I used LEGOs to pre-visualize my short horror film (produced by Monkeypaw Productions, Universal, and TIFF as part of Jordan Peele's No Drama Initiative). I'll walk you through how the LEGO setups translated to actual shots, what I learned about blocking and coverage before stepping on set, and why this method saved me time, money, and a lot of arguments with myself on shoot day. If you're an indie filmmaker, first-time director, or just curious how a TIFF short gets pre-vis'd on a budget, this one's for you.
